Passion is the name of the game when it comes to football commentary. BBC Radio Stoke's John Acres and Nigel Johnson said that was their top tip for the youngsters at our football commentary workshops in August 2007. It doesn't necessarily matter what you say as long as you say it with passion.  The job of a radio football commentator is made that much harder because the audience can't see the game. The commentator's role is to describe what is going on so that the listeners can build a picture of the match in their heads.
