Zawadi's interview inspired a spontaneous response from listeners
Today listeners were horrified by the ordeal endured by Zawadi Mongane, a young mother in eastern Congo. Many contacted the programme to find out how to help.
Now, the charity CARE International has said that it is using the £5,000 donated by Today listeners to set up a special project to help 16 victims of rape.
Many of the women were so badly injured in the attacks that they need extensive surgery, which none could afford.
The project will also help them find ways of earning a living as well as funding their children's school fees.
Below is a list of charities working in Congo and dealing with survivors of sexual violence. Any contributions to these charities would be greatly appreciated.

Save the Children runs a huge programme in the east of Democratic Republic of Congo, concentrating on the reuniting and rehabilitation of ex-child soldiers, support for children who have been victims of sexual violence and helping out-of-school children get an education.
