Television executive Peter Bazalgette, the man who brought Big Brother to our screens, has said that it is "open season" on the BBC's future. Speaking after Sir Michael Lyons, chairman of the BBC Trust, indicated that the corporation may have to become smaller, Mr Bazalgette added that, although it was "too early to replace the licence fee", the corporation should question whether it needed Radios 1 and 2 and should look into whether the BBC iPlayer should be "opened up or shared".
And the former chief executive of channel Five, David Elstein, called upon Sir Michael to be "radical about the future".
