LS Lowry is best know for his paintings of industrial landscapes dotted with stick people. But towards the end of his life, he began painting the sea.
Now, at a new exhibition at the Lowry in Salford, his seascapes are going on display alongside the North Sea paintings of contemporary artist Maggi Hambling.
Today presenter Sarah Montague went to meet Hambling on the beach at Aldeburgh in Suffolk, where she goes every morning to draw. At the site of her most famous work - a massive steel Scallop - she describes how she was inspired to capture the crashing waves and gives her thoughts on LS Lowry's placid oceans.
