This Saturday sees the Lord Mayor's show: the giant procession winds through the City of London which marks the change from one Lord Mayor to another. Centre-stage will be the Lord Mayor's magnificent coach.
To mark the occasion, the Museum of London has organised a special conference on coaches this weekend. Its collection includes this 1791 engraving of the coach The Royal Sailor.
Among the museum's collection is this photograph of two London cabmen, taken around 1877.
This 19th century painting shows James Selby's Brighton Coach outside the New White Horse Cellar, Piccadilly.
The images document a society in transition. These two unidentified Suffragettes were pictured riding a press cart in 1909.
The Lord Mayor's Coach, designed by Sir Robert Taylor, is the museum's star attraction.
It was commissioned in 1757 through an 'article of agreement' between the Alderman of the City of London and Joseph Berry of Leather Lane, London for the princely sum of 860.
Our reporter Sanchia Berg interviewed curator Beatrice Behlen, and the Pageantmaster for the Lord Mayor's Show, Dominic Reid, inside the gold coach.
