The MEP who steered legislation establishing a European arrest warrant (EAW) through the European Parliament says that there is "more to be done before we have confidence in the system".
Liberal Democrat MEP Graham Watson told Today presenter John Humphrys that the EAW is effective in bringing criminals to justice but admitted that "there are different levels of justice" throughout Europe
His comments come as the European Court of Human Rights is to decide whether an England football fan, Gary Mann, should be extradited to Portugal to serve a prison sentence handed down after the Euro 2004 tournament.
