The charity the Wellcome Trust is offering a new system of long-term funding for scientists in an attempt to solve the most important questions facing our understanding of health and disease. It says the scientists which come up with the most original proposals in areas such as genetics and ageing will get awards as part of a 10-year project. The Trust's director, Sir Mark Walport, details the new funding.
