'The whole of society is hyper-sexualized'

What message do children pick up from all the sexualised images they see?

A report for the Home Office says children and young people are exposed to far more hyper-sexualised images than previous generations and it is affecting the way they behave.

Frank Furedi, Professor of Sociology at University of Kent, told the Today programme that the problem was not the media but that an adult agenda was being "recycled" through children.

"Adults have lost the capacity to draw the line between their own attitudes and those of children," he said.

Sue Berelowitz, Deputy Children's Commissioner for England, said both parents and the media needed to change their attitude towards children.

"The wrong messages are being given out," she said.
