People are visiting their GP when they could be getting what they need to make them well from their pharmacist, according to research commissioned by the Proprietary Association of Great Britain which represents companies that make over-the-counter drugs, and this could be costing the NHS £2bn a year. Dr Michael Dixon, a GP and one of the advocates of the Self Help Campaign, and one of our listeners Lesley Abraham, who has been ticked off by doctors in the past when she has gone to see them, discuss whether we can manage minor ailments so that doctors and nurses can concentrate on more serious cases.
