The Conservatives are demanding answers in parliament about claims that the former Transport Secretary Stephen Byers had secured secret deals with ministers on behalf of businesses he was representing. One of the founders of the Alliance for Lobby Transparency, Professor David Miller of Strathclyde University, argues that we need statutory regulation for lobbyists.
