Talks between senior Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are set to continue as the two parties try to broker a deal to form the next government.

Shadow defence secretary Liam Fox commented that it would be "reasonable that a programme would be followed that put the larger part of our manifesto into place".

"We would expect that a lot of the things that we did want on the economy in particular, on education reform for example, would be put through," he added.

When asked if the Tories would accept a referendum on electoral reform, Mr Fox explained that it would be "very strange" if "the government was held to ransom over an issue that the majority of voters did not seem to regard as a priority."
