BA strike ruling 'absolutely ludicrous'

The ruling against BA cabin crew strikes is "nonsense" the Joint General Secretary of the Unite union has said.

Speaking to Today presenter John Humphrys, Derek Simpson said union members had voted "massively to do what they intended to do", and that the 11 spoiled ballot papers, on which the ruling was based, made "absolutely no difference" to the decision.

Given these facts the ruling did not make sense, he said "unless there was extreme prejudice" in the way the law functions.

"I don't blame BA at all. I think the law's wrong," he said.
