The leaders of France and Germany are meeting today ahead of the regular EU summit to discuss the impact of the financial crisis on the eurozone.
John Humphrys has travelled visited the two countries to analyse the impact of the financial crisis on the euro and whether the European Union has taken enough measures to save the currency.
The former EU industry commissioner Gunter Verheugen told him that, although it was "impossible" to throw states out of the eurozone, its "credibility gap is a very serious one".
And a senior Greek banker added that his country could end up "cut off from the rest of the world, Argentina-style, for the next 30, 40 years".
