The London Library was set up in the 19th century and has become the biggest independent lending library in the world where books are never thrown away.

Over the years it's gathered an illustrious membership from Charles Dickens to Winston Churchill. It's half way through an ambitious revamp for the inevitable proliferation of books and has enlisted the help of artists like the Turner Prize winner Martin Creed.
