A new drug, developed through gene sequencing, has been successful in shrinking tumours in patients suffering from malignant melanoma, the journal Nature has reported.

Sir Mark Walport, Director of the Wellcome Trust, told the programme that the breakthrough shows that ten years on from the sequencing of the human genome, its benefits are starting to be demonstrated "on a grand scale".
