Education Secretary Michael Gove has said that children from disadvantaged backgrounds are educated "poorly" in Britain.

He told John Humphrys that he was moving as quickly as possible to reform the education system - giving head teachers greater powers, rolling out the "pupil premium" and improving basic teaching in schools by moving beyond the "wild and wacky theorems" that have dominated teaching in recent decades.
