The government is to allow prisoners the right to vote, after a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights that the present ban is unlawful. David Cameron is said to have reluctantly agreed to the change on being warned of the possibility of big compensation claims from prisoners. Juliet Lyons from the Prison Reform Trust said the decision is a long time coming.
