Their dirty work is outlawed but some 350,000 people still do it.
Mostly women, they have the job of going from house to house emptying dry latrines.
They are treated with contempt by a society that treats them as literal "untouchables".
Every day the work leaves many covered in faeces. However hard they wash, the women are always thought unclean.
Their only solace comes from their highly-oppressed but close-knit community.
As the lowest of the low, many of the women are still trapped in a job so filthy even the government has made it illegal.
