The government's head of immunisation is calling for a GPs to hand over the the management of the annual flu vaccine programme to ministers.

Professor David Salisbury is carrying out a review into shortages of the flu jab at family doctors this winter.

He says there is a compelling case for a takeover of the ordering and supply of flu vaccinations but The British Medical Association's Richard Vautrey isn't convinced.
