A public consultation is being launched today to make sentencing for drug offences more consistent in Crown and Magistrates' Courts in England and Wales. Currently, Crown Courts do not have to take into account the scale of the drug operation or the role of the individual in it. Lord Justice Leveson, chairman of the Sentencing Council, outlines how the new guidelines will work.
