Four days after F1's governing body, the FIA, reinstated the Bahrain Grand Prix on to this year's Formula 1 calendar, the likelihood of the race actually taking place remains uncertain.

"I don't think there's the slightest chance that [the Bahrain Grand Prix] will happen," former motor racing boss Max Mosley told Evan Davis.

"There are human rights problems in almost every country - it is not really for sport to interfere with politics," he argued.

But it was problematic when sport is used to further political aims - in this case to "give the impression that all is well in the country" when it clearly is not.

But Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, head of the Bahraini Economic Development Board, accepted that the country had been through a "difficult time" but said that the Grand Prix could help bring Bahrain together.

"The objective of hosting the Grand Prix is actually to unite the people of Bahrain," he said.
