Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple, is stepping down due to illness.

Leander Kahney, author of Inside Steve's Brain, who publishes the Apple-following website Cult of Mac, explains that Jobs' life "has been his work for decades, and if he's too sick to work it doesn't work well".
