A private company is to take over the running of an NHS hospital, in the first deal of its kind.

Ali Parsa, chief executive of the company Circle, who are taking over Hinchingbrooke NHS hospital, said that the aim is to "cut the bureaucracy and get rid of the waste".

She said the company would "give the powers back to doctors and nurses" in order to let them run the hospital "in the way they think is best for the patients".

Profits, she explained, will be shared between doctors, nurses and financial backers.
