The teaching union the NASUWT is the latest to say it will be joining the strike on 30 November, meaning that 27 unions have now voted in favour of action and that more than two million government workers will not be working on that date.
Speaking on the programme, the TUC's General Secretary, Brendan Barber insisted that unions had "solid mandates" for the action.
And he told Today presenter Sarah Montague he wanted "the government to feel the pressure of public support for our case to encourage them to reconsider their position."
