The gallows at Pretoria prison in South Africa, where more than 130 political prisoners were hung, are being turned into a museum and a living protest against capital punishment.

It comes as South Africans are reeling at the execution of one of their nationals earlier this week, for drug crimes in China yet it was only sixteen years ago that the death penalty was outlawed in South Africa.

Southern Africa correspondent Karen Allen has been given exclusive access to Pretoria prison and shown around Nontsikelelo Jolingana deputy commissioner of prisons.
