British women with breast implants made by the French company Poly Implant Prosthese (PIP) are being told there is no need to have them removed.

The French government has said it will pay for up to 30,000 women to have silicone breast implants taken out if a link is established with eight cases of cancer.

Dr Suzanne Ludgate, medical director of the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), maintains that women in the UK should not be worried.
