The Syrian government says terrorists were responsible for the attack in the capital Damascus where 25 were killed and many more were injured in a suicide bomb. However, the opposition believe the government itself may be behind the killing and they have called for an independent investigation.

Salman Shaikh, director of the Brookings institute, says it is right to say that the Arab League mission has failed. They should come back and admit their failure, he says, and ask for a helping hand from the international community in order to take the issue to the UN security council.

The Arab League should talk to Russia, he adds, as they could play a very important role in a post-Assad Syria.
