Seventy years ago, French Resistance leader Jean Moulin was sent to France by General de Gaulle with the task of unifying the underground opposition to the German occupation.

He was captured by the Gestapo, tortured and killed.

Resistance fighter Raymond Aubrac, now 97-years-old, described his memories of the time to Hugh Schofield.

Aubrac was captured along with Moulin in June 1943, but escaped four months later in a daring operation led by his wife Lucie.

The interview begins with his recollection of first secret encounter with Moulin, codename Rex, in a backstreet of Lyon in January 1942.
