From Tunisia to Tahrir Square, demonstrators have been marking the first anniversary of the Arab Spring and the extraordinary wave of change it unleashed.

But almost unnoticed in the celebrations has been the powerful role of the tiny Gulf Emirate of Qatar - the country which sent troops to help the rebels fight Col Gaddafi and whose satellite TV channel, Al Jazeera, was a powerful influence on the revolutionary mood of the moment.

As middle east correspondent Kevin Connolly discovered when he travelled to the Qatari capital Doha, it is also the richest country on earth and it is determined that it will have the influence to match.
