The Newsweek journalist Maziar Bahari was held in Iran's notorious Evin prison for 118 days after the elections there in 2009 with 117 of those days spent in solitary confinement.

He is a Canadian citizen and was eventually released after his family launched an international campaign to highlight his arrest.

During Mr Bahari's captivity the Iranian satellite channel Press TV was brought in to interview him. This month, as a direct result of this interview, the broadcasting regulator Ofcom revoked Press TV's licence to broadcast in the UK .

Maziar Bahari's book, which details his experiences, Then They Came for Me, is now on the New York Times bestseller list.

He told the Today programme's Sarah Montague about his experiences from the moment he was arrested.
