The government is to announce plans to change the law on shared parenting, to ensure more children have better contact with both parents if a couple split.

Nicholas Cusworth, a QC and part-time judge who chairs the family law bar association, told the Today programme that there is no need to change the law.

Judges, he says, have learnt over the years to be firmer to ensure the relationship between children and both parents is the focus of their decisions.
