The High Court has ruled that a Devon town council acted unlawfully by allowing prayers to be said before meetings.

Former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey, believes the ruling is synonymous with the "gradual marginalisation" of the Christian faith being pushed to the outskirts by, in some cases, people "misunderstanding" the role of the church in the world.
