Are parents avoiding the classic fairytales because they find them too scary?

That is the finding of a survey commissioned by UKTV to mark the launch of their new series, "Grim" which is a supposedly modern take on the old stories.

The survey found a quarter of parents are refusing to read traditional fairytales to the under fives because they don't want to get into child kidnapping, executions and sexist stereotypes.

Dr Jacqueline Simpson, formerly of the Folklore Society, and Nicholas Tucker, educational psychologist, discuss whether this is a good or a bad thing.
