It's a year since the first pro-democracy demonstrations in Bahrain and there's been violence in the country overnight.

Security forces have fired teargas and stun grenades at protesters who've gather to mark the anniversary.

Many of the protesters are from the Shia majority who want greater freedom in the Sunni-led kingdom.
