David Cameron will attempt to shore up support for the Government's controversial NHS reforms on Monday with a Downing Street summit on moves to give GPs more power over local health services.

The Prime Minister and Health Secretary Andrew Lansley will hold a roundtable discussion with chairs of the emerging GP-led clinical commissioning groups and leaders of the Royal Colleges.

But bodies which have been most critical of the NHS reforms have complained that they have not been invited to take part.

Dr Peter Carter of the Royal College of Nursing explains why they think they should be present while Health Minister Simon Burns defends their decision not to include the groups in these "ongoing discussions".
