When Russians go to the polls on Sunday to elect a new President, there's not much doubt that Vladimir Putin will come first of the five candidates.

What is less clear is whether he might be forced into a second round run-off if there is a big enough protest vote to prevent him getting an overall majority.

That may depend on how he is viewed in communities in more remote parts of Russia, like the small settlements and villages dotted across Siberia.
