Politicians from the main parties are to articulate policies for industrial growth at the EEF manufacturing Conference.

Richard Wilson, CEO of computer games industry body TIGA, said that while the UK has been "enormously successful" in building a successful games industry without government intervention, the UK is now losing out to key competitors such as Canada and Singapore who have introduced very generous tax breaks.

The Canadian government gives a grant equivalent to 23% of turnover, he says, which makes "the playing field extremely uneven".

He told the Today programme's Evan Davis that employment in the games industry has been declined in the UK and recent research shows that 41% of all the jobs lost in the UK games sector have relocated to North America.
