A "wanted" poster issued by Oliver Cromwell offering a reward for Charles II's capture is to be auctioned by Mullock's auction house, Shropshire.

Richard Westwood-Brookes, historical documents experts at Mullock's auctions, said he has been "overwhelmed by the amount of interest" in the document.

He said that the majority of population couldn't read or write at the time, so the poster was purely for commanders of army and sheriffs of county.

Cromwell offered a reward of £1000 for the arrest of Charles II, but he imagined the poster would go for more than that at auction.
