A new exhibition opening today at Hampton Court Palace which examines the brief age of decadence, elegance and sexual liberation which followed the Restoration of the Stuart dynasty under Charles II.

Lucy Worsley, chief curator of Historic Royal Palaces, told the Today programme's Sarah Montague that it focusing on women at the court of Charles II because it was when "women's voices began to be heard in court" as well as being "bunny girls... running around with their clothes falling off".

The exhibition includes a portrait of a naked Nell Gwyn as Charles II would have presented her.

She said that she is particularly proud of this exhibition which is about "virtue and vice" in the 1660s and show advances for women in which, she said "the modern woman is created".
