There was a time when a visit to the fairground meant a lot more than rollercoasters and candy-floss.

How about a look at an amazing headless lady, an Egyptian mummy that comes to life, or a girl in a goldfish bowl?

They were all part of a rich variety of weird and wonderful short acts - the sideshow - which began to disappear after the 1950s when the allure of big mechanised rides took over.

Now the sideshow is making a comeback, with a new performance devoted to them at London's Roundhouse.
