How were the girls groomed for sex by a group of men in Rochdale - almost all of whom were in care - able to be out on the streets late at night with no-one seemingly aware of what was happening to them?

Jade, who is now in her twenties but went into care when she was thirteen, told the Today programme that she was "shocked" to find out that the girls in Rochdale were out so late at night.

It is very unusual, she explains, as there are professionals who work closely together to ensure the child's safety.

"I don't think young people need rules, I think it comes down to the relationship", she says. "The relationship that is built then creates trust and your happy to let that person know where you are", Jade adds.
