Charities have been warning for months that the level of malnutrition in Niger in West Africa is reaching crisis point.

Save the Children chief executive Justin Forsyth says the food crisis has now reached a "tipping point" where the weakest children are beginning to die.

"We've got to act very quickly," he said, urging David Cameron to "pick up the baton" and take it to the G8.

"We need to address the underlying causes to malnutrition" to prevent famines from happening, he explains.
