Diamond Jubilees are very rare royal celebrations. The last took place in 1897 during Queen Victoria's reign.

We hear some excerpts from her own private journal, as well as the thoughts of the late Conservative prime minister Harold Macmillan, and the words of Keir Hardie the founder of the Labour Party, spoken by actors.

Matt Ward and Amy Williamson, singers from the end of yesterday's pageant and members of the Royal College of Music said that they although they were "extremely wet and extremely cold" they spent a "lot of the time giggling".

Mr Ward went on to say that it was a long day but "incredible and great fun".
