Prime Minister David Cameron has condemned the "brutal and sickening" killing of civilians in Syria and called for "concerted action" by the international community against the regime of President Bashar Assad.

The BBC's Paul Danahar, in Damascus, says the conflict is "no longer black and white".

He explains that there are militia elements who are not under the direct control of Damascus.

He warns that "the big fear is that it's breaking away from having direct command and control into anarchy".
