The first industrial action by doctors for almost 40 years is under way.

Doctor Paul Cundy, a GP who has a surgery in Wimbledon, says he is taking industrial action "very reluctantly".

Speaking to the Today programme's John Humphrys, he says he "understands that patients feel they are caught in the middle of this".

"We feel very awkward about this and it shows how far we've been pushed."
