The Department for Transport has opened a consultation on whether speed limits on some rural roads in England should be reduced from 60mph to 40mph.

Ralph Smyth, Senior Transport campaigner at the Campaign to Protect Rural England, believes the best solution is "to use 40mph zones similar to the 20mph zones in urban areas".

But Milly Wastie, Vice Chairwoman of the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs, argues "it's more about education and awareness... and how to manage different driving conditions."
