The organisers of Bruce Springsteen's concert in Hyde Park turned off the sound in the middle of a performance with Sir Paul McCartney because they had gone beyond the 1030pm curfew set by Westminster City Council.

Rob DaBank, Radio 1 DJ and festival organiser, does not think it is down to bad organisation but rather it is "very unfortunate" as organisers have huge fines to pay if they run over the curfew and the possibility of never coming back.

"It's criminal to turn those two legends off but at the same time I totally understand the pressure [for the organisers], it's a tightrope to walk," he told the Today programme.

Neil McCormack, rock critic for the Daily Telegraph, says the "absurdity" is having concerts in the centre of London with restrictions on sound levels.

"It's 10.40 in one of the great capital cities in the world... no one's in bed yet," he told Sarah Montague.
