The man in charge of security at the London Olympics has said that he is "satisfied" that his team will be able to ensure that the games are safe.

Chris Allison, the National Olympic security coordinator, told the Today programme's John Humphrys that "there will be no compromise on safety", either by the army, the police or private companies.

His comments come after G4S, the private company charged with providing security guards for the games, admitted that it was facing a shortfall in the number of those trained. The Ministry of Defence has provided an extra 3,500 troops to act as guards during the games.
