People with mild mental illnesses such as anxiety or depression are more likely to die early, say researchers.
Researchers from Edinburgh and UCL looked at the premature deaths from conditions, including heart disease and cancer of 68,000 people in England.
Dr Tom Russ, the report's lead author, told Justin Webb on Today that "people with even minor symptoms are at increased risk", although smoking, alcohol, diet and exercise played a part.
