Remand prisoners, who have not been convicted or sentenced by a court, are treated worse than sentenced prisoners, a report concludes.

Chief Inspector of Prisons Nick Hardwick, who wrote the report, told the Today programme said that conditions are "worse in that they get less help for what happens if they are eventually released [and] worse in that they are locked in their cells for longer than convicted prisoners".
